So in preparation for the wedding I was shooting on October 2, I started looking around to see about renting lenses, as I didn't have some of the "cool" lenses, such as a fish eye, that I wanted on hand just in case.  When in the midst of researching, I had seen on Facebook people posting their experiences about renting lenses.  What concerned me - most people were having to reserve their orders by putting the full value of a lens on their credit card.  Now for most of us just starting out, we don't have that amount of money as a credit limit.  So thus began my search for affordable lens rentals in the San Jose area.  It honestly didn't take very long for me to find places.

Where did I decide to go?  There's a company called Borrow Lenses and for small business photographers, it is one of the best options available.  First off, the amount put on your credit card is only the amount of the total rental, not the purchase price of the item being borrowed.  You have the option of picking up the order or having it shipped directly to you.  You can choose how long you borrow it (3 days being the minimum).  So for under $200, I was able to rent 3 lenses, a flash, and a flash ring.  If I'd wanted to spend another $100, I could have rented another Nikon camera body.  Now, for someone that doesn't have a lot of discretionary income at the moment and/or if you just want to test out a lens before you purchase it for real, this option is such a great opportunity.

The customer service with Borrow Lenses is exceptional - they're friendly, professional, extremely efficient, and quick to make sure you have the best experience ever.  One of the lenses I requested came back broken, so they called to let me know they were upgrading me to a Nikkor lens that was more expensive, but that I wouldn't have to pay anything more.  When I emailed them to ask a question, they were quick to respond.

I cannot praise them enough, but I will definitely be using them again, and I highly recommend them to you.  If you find yourself in need of a lens, accessories, or even an extra camera body, check them out and give them a chance!
